The RIDER Center's Dr. Maxim Dulebenets is leading the way in the burgeoning field of train automation. He was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal for his expertise in automation and rail transport and also published a literature review on the subject along with other RIDER members Prashant Singh and Junayad Pasha.

Itunu Adedeji Combines Curiosity with Traditional Nigerian Work Ethic
Dr. Nasrin Alamdari was recently appointed to the Science Advisory Committee for the Leon County Board of County Commissioners.
In this recent test, tethered drones were flown over busy intersections to observe traffic patterns. In real-time, the drones provided footage of the scene below, and a machine learning algorithm identified and labeled the vehicles as they passed by. At lower elevations, the drone was even capable of identifying a person. Although this work is still in development it has some very promising applications.
