The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Response (RIDER) Center, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The selected candidate will contribute to a federally funded research project under the Accelerated Bridge Construction University Transportation Center (ABC-UTC), focused on developing a human-centered, risk-based online platform for evaluating, visualizing, and prioritizing bridge projects. The postdoc will work under the mentorship of Dr. Neetesh Sharma, Dr. Eren Erman Ozguven, and Dr. John Sobanjo, contributing to interdisciplinary research in infrastructure resilience, transportation systems, and decision-support analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and integrate large-scale datasets (structural, socio-economic, geospatial, traffic)
• Design and deploy interactive GIS-based dashboards and web-based tools
• Apply optimization and simulation methods for transportation network analysis
• Develop predictive algorithms for bridge deterioration and project prioritization
• Support publication, reporting, and dissemination of research findings
Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with expertise in transportation systems, network analytics, or infrastructure resilience (completed within the last 3 years)
• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R) and algorithm development experience
• Proficiency in GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and experience with web application development
• Demonstrated ability to work on interdisciplinary research teams
• Strong written and oral communication skills
