Sung Tae Kim, Visiting Scholar - Dr. Kim is a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. He is a Research Fellow in the Department of Structural Engineering Research at the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) in South Korea. He primarily focuses on bridge-related research and development within Korea, leveraging his academic background in bridge engineering and expertise in structural monitoring and maintenance. He has served as a key researcher in the development of PS strand and nerve sensors embedded with fiber optical sensors over the past decade, with numerous practical applications already implemented on various bridges in Korea. His research contributes significantly to the field of infrastructure monitoring and maintenance. Furthermore, his recent research focuses on developing repair and re-inforcement methods for deteriorated and damaged bridges using UHPC (Ultra High Performance Concrete). Dr. Kim's research has the potential to enhance the performance of various bridges that have suffered severe performance degradation due to inadequate maintenance or damage from natural disasters.
