This project develops new theories/algorithms to design emerging factory-in-a-box manufacturing, by which factory modules are carried by vehicles to customers’ locations for on-site production. New insights and engineering guidelines will be obtained to develop reconfigurable assembly systems and supply chain networks. The project can contribute to the development of responsive manufacturing systems to deal with national emergencies.
